Metal Gear is a stealth-based game directed by Hideo Kojima and developed and published by Konami. The original MSX versions (in Japanese and English) were released on June 1987, with a notoriously compromised Famicom/NES port (without the direction of Kojima) released later during the same year. Metal Gear is the first title in the Metal Gear series.
Metal Gear tells the story of Solid Snake's first mission, secretly infiltrating the military fortress Outer Heaven, seeking missing FOXHOUND agent Grey Fox and information on the mysterious "Metal Gear."
