Metal Gear Acid (also spelled Ac!d; commonly abbreviated as MGA) is a video game developed by Konami for the PlayStation Portable handheld game console. It is part of the Metal Gear series, and was first unveiled at E³ 2004 in May. It was released in Japan on December 16, 2004.
While the Metal Gear series, despite being stealth-based, has always had a heavy influence of action, Metal Gear Acid is said to be less action-oriented (this is possibly why the game's logo lacks the "Tactical Espionage Action" tagline featured on all of the Metal Gear Solid games). It will instead focus more on strategy.
Also, unlike the rest of the games in the series, Acid is turn-based: it will use a "card"-like system to control the main character's movements and actions. This system is probably similar to the one used in the Yu-Gi-Oh! games, which are also produced by Konami.
Hideo Kojima, the Metal Gear series' producer/director, has said that Acid will probably be more of a "side-story" and not part of the games' main canon (much like Metal Gear: Ghost Babel). He has also said that it will most likely feature characters from all three Metal Gear Solid games, which further inforces its possibility as a "gaiden" within the storyline.
