The Metaweb is a website organised by sci-fi author Neal Stephenson. The website opened in September 2003 and consists primarily of a wiki. The site's design is almost identical to Wikipedia. The wiki is powered by MediaWiki. At February 2004 the site offered close to 500 articles.
Introducing the site, Stephenson says "Superficially, this site looks like a set of FAQs about a novel that I wrote entitled QUICKSILVER. As time goes on, we hope that it will develop into something a little more than that. We don't know how it will come out. It's an experiment."
