Metric are a Canadian indie rock band. Originally from Toronto, Ontario, they are currently based in Los Angeles, California.
The band consists of vocalist and keyboardist Emily Haines, guitarist James Shaw, bassist Joshua Winstead and drummer Joules Scott-Key. Their full-length debut album, Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?, was released in 2003.
Haines and Shaw also perform with Broken Social Scene.
