Michael Doyle(1948-)'s most influential work is an analysis of imperialism entitled "Empires." In it he differentiates between different forms of empire and also provides case studies of historical empires. Among those discussed are the Roman Empire, British Empire, Ottoman Empire, and Egyptian empire.
Doyle is currently the Director of the Center of International Studies, and Edwards S. Sanford Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University.
He attended Harvard University receiving an AB, MA, and PhD in Political Science.
