Michael Thomas Mann (April 21, 1919 - January 1, 1977) was a German-born musician. He was the youngest child of Thomas Mann and Katia Mann, born in Munich. After having pursued a career as a flutist in several orchestras (among others, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra), he studied German literature at Harvard. He later worked as a professor at the University of California, Berkeley. He committed suicide in Orinda, CA.
