Middle man - Definition and Overview

middle_man is a program created by Krunch Software (http://middleman.krunchsoftware.com) with the sole purpose of "Enhancing your AIM experience". The AOL Instant Messenger plug-in enhances and extends funtionality of AIM to it's users. middle_man is a free plug-in, written entirely in C++ by John Tull (http://john.krunchsoftware.com/) and Harry Finocchiaro (http://harry.krunchsoftware.com/). At first, the project was small and private, incorporating a small fraction of the features it carries today.

middle_man takes the basic idea of "being in the middle" of your AIM connection. Acting very similar to a proxy, middle_man intercepts your AIM connection before it reaches the server and vise-versa. In this sense, it can do more than the typical AIM plug-in.

Currently, middle_man is in stage 2 of the 3 planned beta stages. As of now, all work and new features are being compiled to get ready for the release of the 3rd and final beta. Beta 3 is due out whenever the developers finish it and feel it's stable enough for others to use.
