Miles Gloriosus (literally, "boastful soldier", in the Latin language) is a stock character from the drama of the classical period, specifically from comedy. It is also the name of a play by Plautus.
In the Stephen Sondheim musical, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, the description is used as the name of a character.
