 Milford Haven - Definition

Milford Haven (Welsh: Aberdaugleddau) is a town in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It was founded as a whaling centre in the eighteenth century and grew into a major port.

Attractions in the town include Fort Hubberston, built in 1865 to defend the port, the docks and marina , museum and the ruins of an observatory. The town's main industry today is oil refining.

Milford Haven is also the natural harbour on which the town stands (and from which the town takes its name). It is formed by the Pembroke River and the Daugleddau estuary, and winds west to the sea. It is a busy shipping channel, trafficked by ferries from Pembroke Dock to Ireland, oil tankers and pleasure craft.

Milford Haven is twinned with Romilly-sur-Seine, France.
