|
|
Mino da Fiesole (c.1429-1484) was a Florentine sculptor. He is noted for his portrait busts. His work was influenced by Desiderio da Settignano and Antonio Rossellino, and is characterized by its sharp, angular treatment of drapery.
His works include:
- a portrait bust of Piero de Medici (1453)
- a portrait bust of Niccolò Strozzi (1454)
- a bust of Astorgio Manfredi (http://www.nga.gov/cgi-bin/pinfo?Object=1277+0+none) (1455)
- a bust of Dietisalvi Neroni (http://www.louvre.fr/anglais/collec/sculp/rf1669/sculp_f.htm), adviser to Piero de Medici (1464)
- companion pieces of Charity (http://www.nga.gov/cgi-bin/pinfo?Object=127+0+none) and Faith (http://www.nga.gov/cgi-bin/pinfo?Object=128+0+none), most probably designed for a wall tomb (1475/1480)
Giorgio Vasari includes a biography of Mino da Fiesole in his Lives of the Artists.
