Minsaara Kanavu was a Kollywood film released in 1997. Originally produced in Tamil, because of its popularity it was dubbed into Telugu under the title Merupu Kalalu. It was also remade in Hindi as Sapnay.
It starred Kajol Devgan as a young woman who wishes to become a nun, whilst at the same time being torn between two competing suitors.
The film was noted for its energetic dance scenes, and the film's composer A. R. Rahman earned a second Best Music Director award at the Indian National Film Awards for his work on the score (his first coming from his work on Roja).
