Miranda is British comedy/fantasy film, made in 1948.
Miranda is a mermaid, played by Glynis Johns. She is caught by a fisherman, but then rescued by Charles, played by David Tomlinson. No-one else must find out that Miranda is a mermaid. The problem is that whenever she gets wet her tail re-appears.
Directed by Ken Annakin and written by Peter Blackmore (who also wrote the play) plus additional dialogue by Denis Waldock.
