Mishnah Berurah - Definition and Overview

Mishnah Berurah (Hebrew: "Clarified Teaching") is a commentary on the "Orach Chayim" (laws of prayer, synagogue, shabbat and holidays) section of the Shulkhan Arukh by Rabbi Yisrael Meir Kagan, better known as The Chafetz Chayim (Poland, 1838 - 1933).

Mishnah Beruruah is traditionally printed in 6 volumes alongside selected other commentaries. The volume provides simple and current explanatory remarks and citations to daily aspects of halakha. It is widely used as a reference and is accepted as authoritative by Lithuanian Ashkenazi Jews, as well as most other Orthodox Jews.
