Monongahela National Forest - Definition

The Monongahela National Forest is located in West Virginia. It is located on the Allegheny Mountains, including the Allegheny Front, and the western Ridge-and-valley Appalachians. It includes most of the highest elevations in the state, including Spruce Knob, the highest point in West Virginia. This forest features many wilderness and special-use areas, including:

• Dolly Sods Wilderness
• Cranberry Wilderness
• North Laurel Fork Wilderness
• South Laurel Fork Wilderness
• Flatrock-Roaring Plains
• Cranberry Glade
• Seneca Rocks-Spruce Knob National Recreation Area
