Moorea is an island in French Polynesia, sister to Tahiti, lying 17 kilometers (roughly 9mi) away.
Several ferries go to Moorea from the port of Papeete, Tahiti, daily. It's a forty-five minute ride, on average.
Don the Beachcomber lived here for some time until his houseboat was destroyed by hurricanes.
Moorea actually means Yellow Lizard and many legends explains why. An older name of it is Aimeho.
