Morris Peterson (born August 26, 1977 in Flint, Michigan) is a basketball player with the Toronto Raptors NBA team. Peterson played collegiate basketball at Michigan State University, and was drafted by the Raptors in 2000, and was a starter in the majority of their games his first three seasons. He helped lead Michigan State to the 2000 NCAA Div-I championship.
In his senior year at MSU, Peterson led team in scoring, field-goal percentage, and free-throw percentage. He had a team-high 30 double-digit scoring efforts. He was voted Big Ten Player of the Year and First Team All-Big Ten, and he placed as first or second team All-American on five different polls.
While enjoying some early success in his professional career, Peterson's production has faced a steady decline which can be correlated with, and perhaps attributed to, the success of the Toronto Raptors franchise. In recent years, he has often been critized as "disappearing" into his corner on offense. Peterson lost his position as a starter in the 2003-2004 season and his seemingly promising career has stalled.
