Rabbi Moses ben Shem-Tov de Leon (c. 1250-1305), also known simply as Moses de Leon, was a Spanish rabbi who composed the Zohar. It is a matter of controversy if the Zohar is his own work, or that he committed traditions going back to Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai in writing.

He was born in León, Spain (hence his last name), and spent 30 years in Guadalajara before moving to Ávila, where he lived until his death.
