Deborah can be considered as the mother of Israel because when the Israelites were in a time of oppression, she guided the people and cared for them. She was like their mother. Deborah led the People of Isreal to freedom from the Canaanites by summoning Barak and commanding him to go to Mount Tabor where God would deliever Sisera and his army of Iron into their hands.
