Moxley is a village in the town of Darlaston, England. It was first developed during the early part of the 19th century when a handful of terraced houses were built to accommodate locals working in factories and mines.
Most of the homes in Moxley were built by Darlaston Urban District Council between 1920 and 1960. They were built as a replacement for many of the area's decaying Victorian terraces but many of these new council homes ended up just as problematic. One estate in Moxley was recently demolished because the houses there had been so severely affected by subsidence due to mining. In 1999, a house in Moxley collapsed down a mineshaft and the two adjoining houses also had to be demolished. Demolition has also started on a 120-home interwar council housing estate in Moxley where around 10% of the residents are still living. One owner occupier even appeared on the news, claiming that he had been offered less than a third of his property's true market value and would not be moving out unless he was offered the full price.
