Mugen Mugen

Mugen - Definition and Overview

Mugen is a word of Japanese origin, meaning dream, fantasy, (夢幻) or infinite (無限). There are three significant entities who use Mugen as their name:

  • Mugen Motorsports (無限), who tune and race Honda vehicles in the JGTC racing series, and additionally sell aftermarket parts to amateur enthusiasts.
  • Mugen Seiki (無限精機), who make R/C (radio controlled) race cars, not affliated with Mugen Motorsports.
  • Mugen, a character from the anime Samurai Champloo
  • The open source 2D fighting game engine openMugen, found at http://openmugen.sourceforge.net/
  • M.U.G.E.N is a 2D fighting game engine designed by Elecbyte in 1999. It runs under DOS and its evolution has been tracked by a solid creation community until 2002/2003, when the company decided to retire due to leaks of private beta versions of a Windows port of the engine. Other projects are in the works to make a clone of the engine since no source code has been made available by Elecbyte staff.
