Murrurundi is a rural town in the Upper Hunter Valley, in New South Wales Australia. The name "Murrurundi" comes from an Aboriginal word meaning "nestling in the valley". The town is about 200 km from Newcastle, and had a population of 2017 in the 2001 Australian Census.
