Connecticut is a state of the United States, in the New England region. Its musical heritage includes folk music, celebrated at festivals like the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, held annually since 1988, and the New England Folk Festival, held annually since 1944. Following the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony and the New York Philharmonic, the New Haven Symphony Orchestra is the fourth-oldest orchestra in the country. It gave its first performance in January of 1895.
