My Chemical Romance is an emo/punk band from Newark, New Jersey, formed by frontman Gerard Way and ex-drummer Matt Pelissier in 2001.
Their first album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love was released on Eyeball Records in 2002, quickly making them an underground success. However, this CD did not bring them huge successess. Their 2004 major label album, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, has had much higher commercial success with the single "I'm Not Okay." The band found inspiration for writing their newest album, "Three Cheers... " during September 11th. Being just outside of New York, they were able to see the twin towers fall from their bedroom window. This was a very depressing and low point for the attitude of band, however with all these emotions they were able to create their most recent album. MCR considers their new album to be more "them" as opposed to the first album where they felt as if it was rushed to be put together. Lead singer Gerard Way writes all the bands lyrics and has recently given up his addiction to drugs and alchohol. However, all the drinking and smoking has given him that raspy voice fans have grown to love.
My Chemical Romance is said to sound like a mix of the bands Thursday and The Used. However, they have a much different beat and sound than The Used. My Chemical Romance can be found touring with bands like Letter Kills, The Used, and Yellowcard during Warped Tour.
From February 18th to April 2nd 2005, My Chemical Romance tours with The Used, Senses Fail, Underoath across North America on the Taste of Chaos tour. The tour is similar to the Vans Warped Tour, however taking place indoors and during the Winter. The band have also been announced to appear on all dates as one of the headlining bands for the Vans Warped Tour 2005.
