The New York University School of Law is generally considered to be among the top six law schools in the United States, and ranked fifth by U.S. News & World Report.
The school is located in Greenwich Village in New York City. It was founded in 1835, making it one of America's oldest law schools, and is home to 1,700 students pursuing J.D., LL.M. and J.S.D. degrees. Richard Revesz is the school's dean. Some of its best-known professors include Thomas Nagel and Ronald Dworkin.
NYU Law is particularly strong in tax law, and offers many tax courses and an LLM in taxation that is the most prestigious degree of its kind in the United States. A great deal of top tax attorneys and professors hold NYU degrees. NYU publishes six law journals.
Furman Hall, its newest building, was opened on January 22, 2004 and is named for a wealthy alumnus and donor, Jay Furman.
