Namdalseid is a municipality in the county of Nord-Trøndelag, Norway.
Being mainly an agricultural municipality, Namdalseid is struggling with a decline in population, as less and less people find they can make a living growing crops and raising cattle. Other areas of interest for business in Namdalseid is fishing, hunting and nature. Having one of the best salmon rivers in Nord-Trøndelag Namdalseid attracts many fishermen every year. In addition many come to experience the beautiful mountain sceneries and enjoy a spot of hunting.
The name Namdalseid is of Norse origins. Namdal or "the Nam valley" is the name of the area to the north of Namdalseid. Eid means a landcrossing, the Vikings used to drag boats across Namdalseid, to get from one fjord to another without having to risk crossing the treacherous Folla-sea.
