Nanto, Toyama - Definition

Nanto (南砺市; -shi) is a city located in Toyama, Japan.

As of 2000, the towns and villages that merged to form the city had an estimated total population of 60,182 with an average density of 89.98 persons per km². The total area is 668.86 km².

The city was founded on November 1, 2004 with the merger of eight towns and villages, all but Fukumitsu from Higashitonami District.
