National Party (Bangladesh) - Definition and Overview

Jatiya Party (National Party) is a Bangladeshi political party. It was founded by the military dictator Hossain Mohammad Ershad. Today the party is split into three factions, Jatiya Party (Ershad), Jatiya Party (Naziur) and Jatiya Party (Manju). Currently the Jatiya Party (Ershad) is the fourth largest party in Parliament; with 14 seats out of 300 available; and got a 7.5% share of the vote at the 2001 general election.
