Newbold-on-Avon - Definition

Newbold-on-Avon is an area of Rugby in Warwickshire, England. It used to be a village in its own right but is now part of Rugby. Newbold still retains its village character in places but modern housing estates surround the old village core. In the old village is the church of St Botolph's which dates from the 15th century.

Located on the north-western edge of the town, the River Avon and the Oxford Canal pass through Newbold.

The canal passes through the 250 metre long "Newbold Tunnel", which built in the 1830s to replace the older tunnel which went on a different route, remains of the old tunnel can be seen next to the churchyard of St Botolph's. A number of former quarries exist in the Newbold area, one of which has been converted into a nature reserve.
