Newseum - Definition and Overview

The Newseum will be an interactive museum dedicated to the news, and is slated to open in 2007 in Washington, DC.

The museum maintains a website which is updated daily with images and PDF versions of newspaper front pages from around the world.

The new location is being designed by the firm of Ralph Appelbaum and Associates. The museum's former location was across the Potomac River from Washington, in Rosslyn, Virginia. It was closed on March 3, 2002 in order to allow its staff to concentrate on building the new, larger museum. The original museum opened on April 18, 1997, and had 2.2 million visitors in its five years of operation.
