Newtownards (Baile Nua na hArda in Irish) is a town in County Down in Northern Ireland, on the shores of Strangford Lough on the Ards Peninsula. Newtownards is home to the seat of the Ards Borough Council.
The town of Newtownards is overlooked by the 100ft high Scrabo tower which sits atop a 500 ft volcanic plug.
Newtownards was the home town of the famous SAS veteran from the Second World War, Blair Mayne.
