Nickel (Canadian coin) - Definition

Some people know that the Canadian Nickel (worth 5 cents) up to 1958 was magnetic. There was enough Nickel in the alloy so it still was noticeably attraced by a magnet. This in spite of the fact that Nickel is the least magnetic or the three common ferromagnetic elements (the other two are Iron and Cobalt). Gadolinium and Dysprosium also are ferromagnetic but are not very common.

The Canadian Dime is magnetic now, though.
