In the television series Andromeda the Nietzcheans are a race of genetically engineered humans who quite religiously follow the works of Friedrich Nietzsche and social Darwinism and Dawkinite genetic competitiveness.
Tyr Anasazi: I would say "let God sort them out," but someone told me He was dead.
They claim to be physically perfect and are distinguished by bone blades protruding outwards from the wrist area.
- In Latin :Homo sapiens invictus/Human Unconquered.
- Physical Characteristics: Nietzscheans are bigger, faster and stronger than normal Humans. They are immune to most poisons and diseases. They can breathe chlorine gas without harm. They can eat a much wider variety of foods, survive in harsher environments, and pride themselves on thriving where normal humans wouldn't dare to tread.
- Homeworld: The Nietzschean subspecies originated at Ayn Rand Station.
- Many Nieschieans share their first names with historical or mythological figures. (Ex.-Tyr is the Norse God of Warfare, and Telamachus is the son of Ulysses)
- Nietzscheans are divided into various 'prides', named after powerful, predatory animals on Earth. (Ex.- Tyr's pride was the Kodiak Pride)
- Among Nietzscheans (or at least among the Orca pride), the highest honors any male can have are the titles 'husband' and 'father', which are accompanied by special forearm bracelets.
- The Nietzscheans believe that Drago Museveni, the original Nietzschean, will be genetically renincarnated (that one of his decendants will have exactly his genes), and that he will unite the prides and be a great leader. Tyr's son, Tamerlane, is this person.
- The leading male in a Nietzschean pride is the "alpha". The leading female is the "matriarch".
- One of the most powerful Nieztschean prides are the Drago-Kazov. They have a large empire, and Earth is one of their slave planets. They destroyed Tyr's pride, the Kodiak, and were largly destroyed when a massive fleet destroyed their homeworld (this plan was engineered by Tyr, in revenge for his people's destruction).
- The Drago-Kazov took the body of Drago Museveni from the Kodiak pride, which Tyr then stole back. This (obviously) angered the Dragos and they were prepared to release a deadly virus onto a planet, as one of their many (unsuccessful) attempts to get it back.
- Nietzscheans pride themselves on their attractiveness, strength, cunning and treachery. Charlemagne Bolivar, when asked what he wanted, replied "the usual; hundreds of grandchildren, total dominion of the known worlds, and the satisfaction of knowing that all my enemies have died in unfortunate accidents that cannot be traced to me".
