Northeast Conference - Definition and Overview

The Northeast Conference (NEC) is a college athletic conference which operates in the northeastern United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I-AA for football and Division I for all other sports.

There are thirteen partial or full-time member schools:

• University at Albany [football-only member]
• Central Connecticut State University
• Fairleigh Dickinson University [no football program]
• Long Island University [no football program]
• Monmouth University
• Mount St. Mary's University [no football program]
• Quinnipiac University [no football program]
• Robert Morris University
• Sacred Heart University
• St. Francis College (NY) [no football program]
• St. Francis College (PA)
• Stony Brook University [football-only member]
• Wagner College
