Norwegian Defence Force - Definition

The Norwegian Defence Force numbers about 30,000 personnel, including civilian employees. The strength during full mobilisation is approximately 130,000.

It is composed of the Norwegian Army, the Royal Norwegian Navy, the Royal Norwegian Air Force and the Norwegian Home Guard, as well as a number of joint organisations.

The senior member of the Defence Force is the Chief of the Defence Force, a four-star officer. The Chief of the Defence Force is supported by the joint Defence Staff.

All operations are directed by the Joint Operational Headquarters (FOHK) in Stavanger.
