Not My Department - Definition and Overview

Not My Department was a Canadian television sitcom, which aired on the CBC in 1987. The show lasted only a single season.

The show, based on Charles Gordon's comedic novel The Governor General's Bunny Hop, starred Harry Ditson and Shelley Peterson as ministerial aides in Ottawa. Essentially, it was an attempt to create a Canadian version of Yes, Minister.

In real life Peterson was the wife of then-Premier of Ontario David Peterson, who made a cameo appearance in one episode of the series as a janitor.
