OSGB36 - Definition

OSGB36 is a map datum used by the Ordnance Survey of Great Britain in map making.

Development started in 1936. It was also used by Admiralty nautical charts until 2000 after which WGS 84 has been used.

In Britain, a longitude and latitude relative to WGS 84, another map datum, is around 140 metres, at a bearing 120° from the same longitude and latitude relative to OSGB36.
