Obsidian Entertainment is a video game developer producing games for the PC and console markets.
Obsidian Entertainment itself is a new company, but many of its key members previously worked at the now-defunct Black Isle Studios, which produced a number of notable games. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Obsidian's first game, was released for Xbox in late 2004 and will shortly be released for PC. It is currently working on Neverwinter Nights 2. Both are sequels to highly successful games created by BioWare, a developer with which Black Isle had strong ties.
The founding members of Obsidian Entertainment were Feargus Urquhart (currently CEO), Chris Avellone, Chris Jones, Chris Parker, and Darren Monahan.
Obsidian is based in Santa Ana, California.
