The Office of the Leader of the House of Commons is a United Kingdom government department. The remit of this relatively recently created office is to support the Leader of the House of Commons in his duties to the House. In recent prior cabinets the Leader of the House of Commons was also combined with that of Lord President of the Council which resulted in the Privy Council Office supporting the Leader of the House of Commons. Since June 2003, Peter Hain has combined the job of Leader of the House of Commons with those of Lord Privy Seal and Secretary of State for Wales, resulting in the creation of an office to support the Leader's work.
