The Olympic Stadium, Munich, situated in the heart of Olympic Park in Munich, Germany is best known for holding the 1972 Summer Olympics.
The design of the stadium at the time of its errection was considered revolutionary, large sweeping canopies of glass stabilised by metal ropes were a new concept. The stadium and its associated village are, however, always remembered for the tragic events of the 1972 Olympics, rather than as the site of the great achievements of competitors such as swimmer Mark Spitz and sprinter Mary Peters.
The stadium is now frequently used for rock concerts. Guns n Roses filmed parts of their Estranged video there when they visited Munich in June 1993.
