Otaniemi from the air, 1989. Otaniemi (Otnäs in Swedish) is a part of the city of Espoo, Finland. Most notable as the home of (and synonymous for) the Helsinki University of Technology (TKK).
Hosts a vibrant - and at times rowdy - student community especially concentrated in the several blocks of student housing called Teekkarikylä.
Many buildings located in the Otaniemi campus area are designed by architect Alvar Aalto.
