Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg was founded in 1647 (named "Academia Bambergensis").
Today, it is a rather small univerity with around 8600 students in the areas of the classical humanities as well as social science and business studies.
The university buildings are partly located in the historical city center, partly in the eastern part of Bamberg.
