Ozama River - Definition

The Ozama river is joined by the Isabel river in the north part of Santo Domingo. Its mouth is where Santo Domingo, the oldest city in the West was founded. Today, there are commercial tour boats that dock at its mouth allowing seafaring tourists to explore the colonial zone of Santo Domingo.

Today, the river Ozama is quite highly polluted with trash and other pollutants.
