PT-91 Twardy (Hard) is a polish main battle tank. It is a very wide modernization of T-72M1 including new dual axis stabilized Fire Control System DRAWA, reactive armour ERAWA and stronger S-1000 engine.
Designed in Research and Development Centre of Mechanical Systems (Ośrodkek Badawczo-Rozwojowy Urządzeń Mechanicznych) in Gliwice, produced by Bumar, Łabędy. Entered service in 1995.
In March 2002 Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir bin Mohamad declared that his country will buy modernised PT-91 Twardy tanks. The contract may be worth approximately 250-300 million dollars depending on the equipment Malaysia would buy together with the tanks.
