"Pak sarzamin shad bad" ("Blessed be the Sacred Land") is the national anthem of Pakistan. It was adopted in 1954, the same year that Pakistan became a republic. The lyrics are written by the famous Pakistani poet Abul Asar Hafeez Jalandhari, and the music composed by Ahmed G. Chagla. An interesting fact is that the music of the anthem was composed before the lyrics were written.
