Palakkad - Definition and Overview

Palakkad is a district in Indian state Kerala, bordering to Tamil Nadu, Malappuram, and Thrissur. It is famous for its palm trees, Malampuzha Dam and the Tippu's fort. Palakkad previously know as Palghat is also called "Rice-bowl of Kerala", thanks to its vast area of paddy fields. Kanjikkode is a notable industrial area. In 1991, its estimated population was 2382235.
