Panji Tohjaya was the son of Tunggul Ametung, the first husband of Ken Dedes. Tunggul Ametung was a resident of Singashari before it became a kingdom. Tunggul Ametung was killed by Ken Arok using Keris Mpu Gandring. After Tunggul Ametung`s death, Ken Arok married Ken Dedes and built a Singashari Kingdom where he was the first king. The reason Ken Arok married Ken Dedes was because Ken Dedes was a very beautiful woman and was the Nareshwari and she could bring power to any man who married her.
