Paris Metro train fire - Definition

In August 1903 a small fire started on a Paris Metro train.

Instead of stopping the train in the tunnel, the crew decided to continue on until the train reached the surface. Unfortunately, this fanned the flames and the fire got bigger.

84 people were killed. The patronage of the line was cut by half through the bad publicity.
