Barbados which is located in the Caribbean, is divided into eleven parts or sections that are called Parishes. They are called "parishes" because of the island's religious Anglican history.
Additionally, the nation's capital Bridgetown, which is located within the parish of Saint Michael may one day be made into it's own district.
The eleven Parishes of Barbados are named:
- Christ Church
- Saint Andrew
- Saint George
- Saint James
- Saint John
- Saint Joseph
- Saint Lucy
- Saint Michael
- Saint Peter
- Saint Philip
- Saint Thomas
