Parmigianino (1503-1540), also known as Francesco Mazzola, was a painter, drafter, and etcher. He was from a family of artists and began work in Parma among other artists such as Correggio. In 1527, after the sack of Rome, Parmigianino went to Bologna.
Parmigianino is one of the outstanding painters of the phase of Renaissance style known as Mannerism.
