Patsy Keever (born December 20, 1947) has been politically active in western North Carolina for more than thirty years. In 2004 she was in her third term as a Buncombe County commissioner. Retiring after twenty-five years teaching in the North Carolina public school system, Keever announced her candidacy for the United States House of Representatives with support from NARAL, the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League. As Democratic candidate, she was defeated in the race for the 11th district of North Carolina by incumbent Republican Charles H. Taylor, by a margin of 55% – 45%.
